The 94 ROCK limited edition automobile was purchased by Californian Albert Fowler in May of 1983. In the final days of the De Lorean Motor Car Company, John De Lorean brought 400 automobiles to the giant blimp hangers at the Marine Corp Air Station in Tustin, CA for a one-day cash-only sale. Sticker price was $25,000 ($68,000 in today’s money) and Albert was one of the buyers who helped raise $10,000,000. in a single day, but the company still went belly up. Little Known Fact: when the company went bankrupt, Consolidated International….today’s Big Lots…. purchased 100 vehicles still on the production line in Ireland. 94 Rock purchased our car from Mr. Fowler, the original owner, in January of 2008 anticipating the format switch of KNEN Radio from Mix to Rock. Management at the radio station felt that this car, more than any other vehicle, would exemplify the fun, the energy, and the mood of the “Music You Grew Up With”.

The De Lorean DMC-12 is a sports car that was manufactured by the De Lorean Motor Company for the American market in 1981 and 1982 in Northern Ireland. The DMC-12 featured gull-wing doors with a fiberglass "underbody", to which brushed stainless steel panels were affixed. 9000 total vehicles were produced; about 6,500 still exist today. A De Lorean was featured as a home-made time machine in the Back to the Future trilogy. Remember when you went to see these classic movies at the Cinema 3, or the Norfolk Drive-In, or the Starlight Drive-In in Neligh?

The Time Machine is the official public appearance vehicle of 94 ROCK Radio and is seen at many locations through out Northeast Nebraska. We stay in touch with Albert Fowler, the original owner in California, and he asks us to email pictures of his old car on location, wrapped in the striking 94 ROCK graphics. He is very happy about the car’s “new life”. When 94 Rock is out & about, bring your camera and have your picture taken seated inside this special vehicle!
