CLEVELAND (AP)-- It was another homerless night for Alex Rodriguez, who drove in three runs in the New York Yankees' 11-4 rout of Cleveland. A-Rod went homerless in four games in Cleveland as he now takes his quest to be the seventh player to hit 600 home runs to Tampa Bay where the Yankees open a weekend series against the second-place Rays.
MINNEAPOLIS (AP)-- The Twins have acquired All-Star closer Matt Capps from the Washington Nationals for minor leaguers Wilson Ramos and Joe Testa. The Twins say they will also receive cash from the Nationals. Capps got his 26th save in 30 opportunities earlier Thursday in the Nationals' win over the Atlanta Braves. He will help bolster a bullpen that was missing its closer, Joe Nathan, since the beginning of the season.
WASHINGTON (AP)-- The Washington Nationals have placed their rookie phenom pitcher Stephen Strasburg on the 15-day disabled list with shoulder inflammation. It's the first trip to the DL for Strasburg, who was the No. 1 overall pick in the 2009 amateur draft and signed a record $15.1 million contract.
MANKATO, Minn. (AP)-- The Minnesota Vikings have arrived in Mankato for training camp with the bitter loss to New Orleans in the NFC title game still fresh in their minds and no idea if Brett Favre will be back for another run at a Super Bowl. The Vikings started trickling in to this college town on Thursday in preparation for their first training camp practice on Friday afternoon. If Favre returns, all 22 starters will be back from a team that lost in overtime to the Saints in January. But Favre remains at home in Mississippi, recovering from ankle surgery. He has not told the team if he will be back for a 20th NFL season. Most players say they don't mind if Favre skips camp and joins them when they return to Minneapolis.
PITTSBURGH (AP)-- The Pittsburgh Steelers have reached terms with five-time Pro Bowl offensive tackle Flozell Adams on a two-year contract. The Steelers have sought offensive line help since right tackle Willie Colon was lost for the season last month with a torn Achilles' tendon.
ASHBURN, Va. (AP)-- The Washington Redskins have reached an agreement with No. 4 overall pick Trent Williams on a six-year, $60 million contract. Williams plans to sign the deal in the morning and will then take part in Friday's practice at training camp. The deal, which has $36.75 million in guaranteed money, ends a one-day holdout after Williams missed the first day of camp Thursday. Williams is projected to be Washington's starting left tackle, filling the void left by the retirement of six-time Pro Bowler Chris Samuels.
METAIRIE, La. (AP)-- The New Orleans Saints have signed their first-round draft choice. Saints spokesman Greg Bensel says Patrick Robinson has agreed to a five-year contract and is expected to report for training camp Friday. Robinson, a cornerback out of Florida State, was the last of the Saints' six 2010 draft picks to reach a deal. Robinson will give the Saints another potential nickel back behind their starting cornerback tandem of Tracy Porter and Jabari Greer.
ENGLEWOOD, Colo. (AP)-- Former Heisman Trophy winner Tim Tebow has agreed to a contract that is believed to be worth $11 million over five years, with $8 million guaranteed. ESPN reported that Tebow could earn as much as $33 million over the course of the contract.
